Ayan Panja
Ayan works as a 7/8 time NHS GP partner in St Albans, Hertfordshire and is a clinical editor for NHS Choices and is the resident Doctor for BBC World News.
He presents Health Check on BBC World News, a round-up magazine programme on global health and also fills regular slots on one of the channel’s flagship shows, Impact, as the medical expert. The shows attract approximately 80 million viewers across the globe. This follows his success as a presenter on The Health Show, a groundbreaking programme on the same channel.
He started his broadcasting career as a presenter on BBC1's prime time show Street Doctor in 2006, and since then has become a respected medical expert in various forms of media. He went on to become the human biology judge on Knowitalls, BBC2 and was the medical expert on Supersizers Eat...Roman, BBC2 and Dishing The Dirt, ITV1. He was the in-house doctor on Celebrity Quitters on FIVE and the resident doctor on 3@3, a live chat show for ITV.
Ayan has conducted radio days for both charities and national campaigns, and has hosted and facilitated meetings and events for charities, companies and the NHS.
He wrote a book on medical trivia in 2005, called An Essential Medical Miscellany, and writes features and articles for various publications including The Guardian, The Huffington Post, FQ, The Lady, Metro and Mens Health.
In his spare time he enjoys all things musical and has a young family which keeps him busy.
